I am still stockpiling fuel for the coming ice age.
If things get really dire do you all have any recipes for long pig?

facebook glitch reveals father, activist behind greta thunberg's facebook .... i'm not good at getting links right.
but this is interesting in light of greta supposedly doing things on her own according to dear old dad.

that lesson for today likens holy spirit to wind.
any sailor knows you have to sail across or into the wind to get someplace.
the wind will shipwreck you.
I forget not everyone has to read tge articles. The lesson was supposed to be the holy spirit is like the wind pushing you in the right direction. That why i thought the scripture from acts was so odd to use
?usually ignorant?

Not directly into, but a few points off, tacking, but not just downwind like the picture. That Acts account was a shipwreck from the wind, I didnt " study" to notice that earlier

Now how to incorporate this into an answer
i was on the phone with a long-time friend from my original congregation north of new york city and she told me that the 'shit hit the fan' when a brother (long-time elder i know well) got remarried about 6 weeks after his wife died.. he was about 60 and his new wife (a pioneer that i also know) was about 50 and had never been married.. it became a huge issue when the co came.
due to all the talk and chatter in the congregation, he even included in one of his talks without naming names, that marriage is something sacred and that when and how people get married is a personal matter as long as it conforms to bible standards.. anyway, it shut everybody up.
any similar experiences in your current/former congregations?.
Some children worry about the younger wife inheriting the house and money. And jealousy of step siblings both ways

Marriage can be a survival strategy, filling needs for both parties. An ailing mate can put a strain on the love ( I know). There may have been an attraction that was already there.
But learning about the ingrained ha its of someone else would be a challenge. Was this brother a hard nose? The 50 yo virgin speaks for itself
i don't know if this topic has been covered before - it might 've been.. i also recommend flipper's excellent music thread ('what songs have you been listening to?
', or similar).. but, i'd just like to start a thread about certain songs giving me goosebumps.
y'know, when you hear a song that profoundly effects you in some difficult-to-describe way and the hairs on your arm stand on end even though the room temperature's comfortably warm.. so, which songs give you goosebumps?.
Funereal amazing grace on bagpipes
pronunciation is so hard.
the butchered word this time is scourge pronounced as skorj.
4 different people, maybe because the reader did it first.. these same ones also pronounce the w in sword.. a pet peeve of mine is blatantly not learning how to speak and pronounce the native tongue.
Other than neither coast of the US, is all I can say. The esteem given ignorance is widespread.
my beloved grandmother has passed away and her funeral is next week at a kingdom hall.
she was a loyal jw, and unfortunately i am not understanding of the funeral procedures.
please could you kindly explain what what will happen in the funeral?
Condolences. Unhappily a JW memorial is as described. They do have someone from the witnesses relate an anecdote at times in addition to the preacher. He will read verbatim the information from the remembrance card( I cant think of the proper name) complete with mispronouncing names. Then say " she wanted you to know" ; then go into the sermon part. The song will most likely be a recording from their song book, nothing else allowed. Be aware the songs go from tolerable to dismal in arrangement and tune. I have heard applause twice at the end like it was a play or movie. 🙄
If they have a reception you may be able to read your poem there. Ask. You can post it on the funeral home memorial page. Or put it here, we will appreciate the sentiment.
I know of a few who have forgone any memorial, i think because of the disappointed hope they had.
